More rain and fog. Pushing 40.
The lake continues to rise.
The good news is that it provides beautiful scenes.
And wildlife. Honkers by the hundreds.
The bad news is that the water has nowhere to go.
The ground is saturated, and flooding is next.
The poopies were concerned, too.
So, I went on a field trip to find out why...
A rugged mountain welcome sign.
This is "Lost Creek".
And this is a dam thingy.
After I took this picture from the south end,
I found a credit card lying in the road.
I looked up the name in the phone book.
It turns out that her purse had been stolen last night,
and the thief tried to cash a check within 15 minutes.
They filed a police report and canceled all her cards.
I called the sheriff, feeling bad that I had handled the card,
and may have destroyed some fingerprint evidence.
Our second official police visit. How exciting!
(I had forgotten the mailbox vandalism incident.)
I offered to show her the scene of the "crime",
and that I noticed a beer can nearby. Who knows,
there could be more fingerprints, or DNA ...
The officer explained that they aren't like C.S.I.
took the stolen card, adding her thumbprint to mine,
slid it onto her clipboard, took my info, thanked me, then left.
The rugged mountain yachtsman took advantage of our new
lakefront property and went for a floatabout.
He joined up with the neighbor kids and a canoe.
I fixed the barn light (again).
