Tuesday, February 7
Another sunrise. We thank Him.
Each is unique and special.
But all too brief. The day begins...
It's a brave new world, in this post Super Bowl era.
And what a great time to be a political satirist.
Sure, there was a cartoon of a referee, handing the
Vince Lombardi trophy to a Pittsburgh Steeler player,
while dropping the penalty flag on Seattle's Coach Holmgren.
The caption reads "The Steeler's 12th Man".
Even though the NFL admitted that officiating mistakes were made,
do you see riotous fanatic mobs destroying the stadiums?
No. Of course not. Even though many sports enthusiasts treat their
precious game as if it were a religion, they can also take a joke.
In many countries around the world, there are people dying in riots
apparently started in anger over the "forbidden" depiction of a religious leader.
Perhaps the illustrator was not aware, or did not care. Maybe there was an error
in judgement, or even a lack of respect. But it was, in essence, a cartoon.
It is their job to make fun, to entertain, to express a point of view, often with
a satirical edge, and usually at the expense of someone with a different perspective.
But to start World War III over this? Wake up, oh sleeping giant. Not everyone is free.
We are not talking about a handful of radical extremists, or some fringe cultist group.
This is the fundamentalism of an extreme religion that does not understand "tolerance",
and is taught from an early age to kill their enemies, not to love them.
If the most noble thing a child can aspire to become is a suicide bomber,
then there must be something wrong with their teachings.
I run the risk of inciting another riot, so I will stop now,
but I leave you with this thought...
As our Constitution continues to erode away with each new "interpretation" thereof,
and the alleged separation of church and state prohibits free speech in church,
political correctness and tolerance will declare scripture itself unconstitutional.
Being a Christian will become a crime, and protests now illegal, will then be too late.
Where is the voice of America? Where is the outrage?
Does anyone remember how hard it was to find a flag in the stores after 9-11?
They were proudly displayed everywhere. On cars, in windows, in shops, and offices.
(Did anyone happen to notice that they were all made in China?)
Wake up, America. And get back to work...
