Saturday, February 11
Another brisk morning at the Rugged Mountain Suburban Ranch.
The ads are running this weekend.
Had a few calls, mostly for parts.
One caller was looking for a blue interior,
another just wanted a hood.
But I didn't want to sell them one piece at a time.
This one has some rear-end damage, and you can't open the tailgate.
Oh, and the tranny slips. But otherwise, very clean.
This one is two-wheel drive, and no brakes.
And this one, um, has tinted windows.
OK, it won't shift into drive, and the engine is a V-7.
But it has a brand new carburetor and battery...
Temps rose early to above freezing, and melted the driveway.
The surface alternated between rock hard and squishy.
It was a slow sales day on the lot.
Here, the lead sales poopie cools out in the shade.
Spent some time getting reacquainted with the tractor,
and filled in the trough for the hose to the propane tank.
I tried to smooth out the driveway, but it was too soft.
It was exciting to watch the lake evaporate.
Moments later, one of the callers came by and made an offer for burb #3.
I had hoped that it would fetch a bit more, but then I thought of
that TV show, "Deal, Or No Deal". And Trump, I am not.
I watched as the new owner started her up, put it into gear,
tromped on the gas, and nothing happened.
He tried reverse, and it rocked back a little.
Shifting back into drive, it slowly crept up the driveway.
Tearfully, I counted my cash, and wished him a safe journey.
One down, two to go...
Had just enough daylight left to wash the new beast.
All in all, not a bad day at the ranch.
We are thankful for the blessings we have received.
