Thursday, February 23
Snow and rain predicted for today. Got none of that.
A rather balmy 42. Almost too warm to be working.
But work, she did...
Time to prepare the barn for birthing the sheep.
(They're due any time now...)
Mucking the stall.
Ahhh, that's better. Nice, fresh straw.
What a pile.
Speaking of piles, I had a few comments about the Olympics.
(I just knew that you would want me to share them with you...)
I watched all four hours of the coverage tonight.
While we have come a long way since ABC's "the agony of defeat",
having to watch that poor ski jumper, forever enshrined in celluloid,
crashing again for the thousandth time, (but now digitally enhanced
and broadcast in HDTV), would have been too much to bear.
"Up close and personal" was bad enough. So now we have to watch
the pre-hype qualifiers, and hear about their poor families who
sacrificed everything so their darling diva could skate. Boo hoo.
I must admit, the Italian Ice Dancing drama was entertaining.
Talk about a "Prima Donna." They fall, she blames him and won't
speak to him or even be in the same room with him for a full day
until they skate onto the ice for their long program. It was a pathetic display!
But I digress...I've finally figured out the new scoring system.
It used to be that everyone got a 5.8 except for the Russians.
Now you can get bonus points for doing jumps in the second half
of the program. Otherwise, it would just be called choreography.
I still can't tell the difference between a tandem axel,
the sell cow, toe goop, or the triple klutz.
But as the evening progressed, it became clear that
the gold medal would go to the one with dry tights.
By midnight, Tink couldn't have cared less.
