This morning at the office, I noticed a new face.
I was told that he was the new HR Director.
A nephew of the company's owner.
Brought it on short notice to help out with training,
reviews, interviews, hiring, benefits, and such...
I had a brief chat with a few of the senior staff members.
No one had heard anything about him.
It didn't seem that unusual to me. Actually, it made some sense.
New people were being hired at a brisk pace. We could use the help.
So, I went about my job trying to procure a new computer and phone...
Dave, sporting a jacket and baseball cap, was making the rounds,
introducing himself, getting to know the staff one on one.
But I kept hearing strange tales about how quirky he was acting.
Refusing to fill out his own paperwork, making suggestive comments,
telling off-color jokes, and in some cases, being downright rude.
At 9:15, there was an impromptu staff meeting called, presumably to introduce him formally.
April Fools. Yes, it was all a joke. A good one, though. More than one person was ready
to resign if this would have been for real. He turned out to be a pretty good actor.
