The rugged mountain boy signed up for track and field today.
He is interested in sprints, and the long jump.
I found out that our camera repairs will take a little while longer.
It turns out that Minolta/Konica has gone out of business.
They have been purchased by Sony. There is some confusion about
what is going to happen with their service organization.
So, the parts will be hard to come by for a while...
I guess it is my fault, in a way. I have moved away from silver halide
film processing in favor of that quicky digital thingy. Although, I did temporarily
boost the Minolta sales figures by four digits when I bought one of their cameras.
In other news, Mary is probably not pregnant, just fat.
Speaking of news, (uh oh, hear it comes...)
I heard that there is going to be a Civil Strike?
An "Alien Boycott"? May Day? A day without latinos??? Oh, please.
Just because you can add the word "rights" to any other word,
it doesn't mean you have them. Like, "gay rights".
Civil rights? Yes, for citizens.
Human rights, of course. People everywhere have the right to exist.
Sanctuary? If need be. One may apply for political asylum.
Persecution, oppression, and starvation are everywhere.
There are organizations that can help. That's why they call it charity.
But when it is sanctioned by the government, then it is called taxes and welfare.
How do I stand on Illegal Immigration? I'm all for it.
Keeping it illegal, that is.
A "guest worker" program? Sure. A work visa. Documented aliens.
A border pass. And a bus ticket home. All good ideas.
An alien driver's license? Only for legal aliens with a permanent residence.
But they should be able to read the signs, and converse with peace officers.
I would never think about trying to drive in say, Italy, if I couldn't read
the most basic road signs, a map, or to ask for directions.
I'd be a danger to myself and others.
But amnesty? U.S. Citizenship by default? For 12 million?
Whatever happened to waiting in line?
Now all they have to do is cross it.
Let's re-open Ellis Island, or its equivalent, Coachella.
Better yet, let's tank the economy by defaulting on our national debt,
and create a depression. Then, there will be plenty of competition for
all those sub-minimum wage jobs. Let's invade Mexico. Or sell California.
Maybe just the southern part. As long as it includes Hollywood.
And Hollywood has finally put its money where its mouth is.
That would explain its constipation.
