Best snowfall of the season. At least 4 to 6 inches.
Light, fluffy, and sticking to everything.
How does the driver get to the snowplow?
The Brrrrrrrrb.
The snow on the barn looked like it was about to come down.
Thought I would venture out into the south 40
to take some winter type photos...
Ruthie and Sisi Bear met me at the gate.
Still rather gray out, but pretty scenes anyway.
Ooooo, artsy, fartsy...
Here's that Christmas card I was going to send you...
The kids were in a playful mood.
Well, Ruthie was.
After feeding the pests
I decided I'd better plow the driveway.
But first I'd have to dig out the plow...
I plugged in the block heater and battery charger,
and filled the tank with some red dye diesel.
Then I gave the starter solenoid a good whack with a hammer,
and pulled on the fan belt until the engine rotated slightly.
(It's a process).
Then, turning the key halfway to warm up the glow plug
for not less than a full minute, depressing the clutch,
opening the compression valve, adjusting the throttle,
placing the transmission in neutral, and a short prayer,
I turned the key fully to the right, and it went "click".
(But that's a good thingy. Usually it doesn't click on the first try.)
Turned the key once more, and she belched out a smoke ring, then rumbled to life.
Mmmmmm. I love the smell of diesel in the morning...
Tink came out to investigate the scene.
The snow was a little thicker than she was used to.
I turned around to fiddle with the tractor,
and I heard what sounded like a freight train behind me.
The snow on the barn had avalanched. And I couldn't see Tink anywhere.
All I found were some paw prints in the snow
going around the corner of the barn where the snow had fallen...
I looked for a tail sticking up out of the snow.
I was near panic. The snow was heavy and wet,
almost like freshly poured concrete.
Digging her out would have been nearly impossible.
So, I went to get the tractor, and maybe I could scoop her out...
And there she was, sitting on the tractor. Whew!
Talk about your guardian angel.
Moments later, the driveway was cleared.
The inspector gave the approval.
I even cleared a path to the barn
so she wouldn't have to get her whiskers wet.
It was a long day. I left the tractor at the ready,
just in case the weatherman lies again...
