We've been thinking about railing systems.
We didn't want to use wooden balusters, since they block the view.
We looked into using steel cables, but they were very expensive.
They would provide a view, but not much of a wind break.
Then we thought about perhaps plexi-glass or an acrylic.
Relatively inexpensive, and easy to install.
But everything we read said that it scratches easily,
and will yellow over time. So what's left? Tempered glass.

OK, talk about your options there...
We found everything from custom contoured smoked glass:

to clear and simple styles:

and some that didn't have railings:

We are leaning towards this style:

Single piece between posts, with a slight gap at each end
to allow for a little breeze in the summer time.
We like the copper tops on the posts, but may use
some cobalt blue glass for the corner posts and stairs.

Oh yeah, stairs. Better give that some thought, too...
