Ahh, Spring! (Can't you tell?)
Another inch of snow fell last night.
I'm usually the second or third person to arrive at work.
The roads were a little icy, with a gusty wind.
Conclusive evidence of global warming.
Or is it called "climate change" now?
The birdies are happy that they do not have to hunt for food.
"Hey, wake up!"
Technicality question: If Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow,
does that mean six more weeks of winter from the day he sees it,
or six more weeks of winter added to the beginning of spring?
As much as I enjoy shoveling and plowing snow,
I'm looking forward to mowing and pulling weeds.
Ours is one of a rare few mailboxes to have survived this season.
Ruthie guards herself. (Note the high snow mark on the fence.)
Many of these scenes remind me of the beginning of winter.
How many times have we stopped along our hikes to enjoy this view.
The sun trying to come back out as flurries continue to fall.
Where pavement ends. But the mountain beckons.
Lost Creek looks good in the snow.
The snow runoff is steady.
This is a Northern Flicker- Colaptes Auratus -a type of woodpecker that feeds regularly on the ground.
Meanwhile, back at the office, more snow.
My cube does not have a window view.
So I take the occassional wander for a gander.
This birdie is bigger than the finches and sparrows.
This is the male Red Crossbill- Loxia Curvirostra
Very colorful for such a pest. He's a bully.
The variety never ceases to amaze us. This is a male Hairy Woodpecker- Picoides Villosus
Just when you think it's all done, here it comes again.
This time, hail. Yup. BBQ weather...
